When one of my daycare moms brought me 3 parrot fish.  Now i admit that I do not know the 1st thing about these fish other than they look like they are trying to whistle all the time.  because of their size and the good hiding spots i have in it,  i put them in my 20g high tank til i can get them a bigger home.

If anyone has any experience with these little buggers please let me know. They scared me to death this morning when i went in to check on them and all 3 were laying on the bottom of the tank pressed up to the glass.  As soon as I put the net in there to see if they were almost dead,  they all got up and swam off (one bit my net haha)

thanks in advance for any help you can give me with these guys.

they are an awesome fish but with some of the parrots (hybrids) some are mules and some aren't depending on the paring to get the fish. mine i had were blood parrots which are a green severum & red devil hybrid. half the spawn were able to breed while the other half wasn't. The usually average a total lenght of 6" up to 12" once again depending on the pairing they came from.

Some are highly aggressive while some are mellow as can be. I had one of my parrot fry who was so mellow and the largest in the 150 tank literally swim away and hide from a 1" pink kissing gourami who ruled the tank. She would only come out of her cave when the kisser wasn't any where around. But you will diffently ejoy them. I loved all mine and i kept the them in tanks from 20 gallons and up.

Check out some of my pics in my gallery. I have had a male and female parrot for 2 years now. The male is very large. Then again I keep them in a 240 gallon tank. If you have any questions let me kow.

Oh I love the parrots! I know, all that genetic blah blah....but they are adorable. I have a convict/parrot mix and she's a pip!! Loads of personality, and tank tramp. She spawns with anyone. Yours might spawn, but something goes wrong with the fertilization - they are true parrots. They get pretty good sized, and have an oscar kinda personality. Grumpy but loveable. You can hand feed them (in fact that's better since their mouths are so small) and they get that beautiful color!!
