I think I am going to start a saltwater tank. I would like to have a hardy fish that I can breed in the near future. Does a hardy saltwater fish that is easy to breed exist?

I like to breed the Banggai Cardinal. They are a bit on the aggressive side, so put them in their own tank (maybe two or three). And, when you buy the ones you are going to breed, make sure you buy ones that were bred in captivity. Otherwise, the ones from the wild tend to have parasites.

Live foods, and a continuous supply of them, small enough for the fry has been one of the main stumbling blocks of breeding marine fish. I would check with Livefoods to see if she recommends rotifers or something that small

i agree with pauline that Cardinals are the best beginners marine fish to breed and they mostly do the work for you as the male carries the eggs and fry til they are 20 day old. so by that time they can be started on baby brine shrimp. Clowns are easy to breed but i wouldn't recommend them for the beginner as they go threw 3-4 different stages and have to require alot of attention as in foods, maintence, and also alot of tank movements from a small 2.5 gal up to a 55 gallon or larger.
