This guy kills other snails but harms no fish or plants.  They are beginning to be imported from over seas (can't remember where) and should be coming to fish stores in the US.

They are called Anetome Helena

Raub-Turmdeckelschnecke, Anentome helena

I have seen some of those for sale online.  I am obsessed with snails, but that is one I would definately NOT buy...as he will eat my 100s of snails I have now...lol.

Would be a good solution to the pesky pond snails that people get when adding live plants to their aquarium.  Once those snails get started, they are a pain in the @5S to get rid of.

Keep us posted. I have been looking at these guys as a possible to keep in planted tanks where snails are NOT wanted. As in, breed them feeding pond and rams and sell them to someone who loves their plants more than the snails. Personally, I let my snails go crazy as I like them more than the plants.

One person's ad mentioned that they will eat algae, flake food, etc like regular snails. When they get to feed on snails then they reproduce. Otherwise they don't reproduce or less so. According to the post I read.

This is one that would be a HUGE no no to release unintentially by putting it in an outside pond IMO.

Loaches, cory cats, puffers, cichlids, have all eaten snails for me in the past. I got some albino cory's and put them in with my briggs.  They tore up their shells to get to the snails. Plenty of food available. Live food at that. Seed shrimp overpopulation in my brig tank so I put the cories in. They decimated the seed shrimp population too. I had to get rid of the albino cories to save some seed shrimp at least, and to keep the poor snails from being tore up. I loved cory cats. These were the devil.
