I just got a letter from the water department saying that Giardia has been found in our water..I just did a 25% water change 2 days ago...what would I be looking for in fish if they do get it? No one here is sick, so I guess that's a good sign. I have angels and albino BN. Thanks, Donna

"Beaver Fever" affects all sorts of critters, fish included. Not sure what to look for in fish though. Read this.

I have googled it, and come up with several sites that say fish can get it, but none that say what their symptoms might be. There is a product called fish zole that specifically targets giardia in fish, so I e-mailed the company to find out what the symptoms could be. it's been 3 days since my water change, and so far they are all acting fine. I did read where a filter that will filter down to 1 micron will stop it from getting through...I may be making a purchase. Thanks...Donna

Hello this is an intestinal parasite, it will show no signs until it is to late, then the fish will suddenly look sunken in ....... Blend some garlic into a mulum, sqeeze the juice over their a portion of their food ....... let it dry and then feed it once a day for a week ....... By the way don't feed then anything else .......... Lovel/Crackedglass

I bought a good water filter and did several water changes, and everybody seems fine...it was an investment I needed to make, anyway. I feel alot safer knowing me and the fish are covered..dog, too. Just for anybody's info that may need it...Zole said the first sifgn would be that they would go off of their food...luckily, mine never did. Donna
